Mexican decorative
tiles have been used for many years to provide color and
interest, as well as their unique vibe, to countless installations,
both commercial and residential. Popular uses for these
tiles include kitchen counters and backsplashes; bathroom
counters, walls, tub and shower surrounds; stair risers;
decorative inserts for floor tile; decorative inserts in
stucco walls; as well as table tops and outside cook tops.
We have spent years dealing with these products, so we employ
only the most skilled and reliable manufacturers in Mexico.
The Talavera tiles
are the traditional decorative tiles that have been made
by the same process for many years. This process involves
painting several layers of colored glazes on a smooth bisque
before firing. Talavera is broken down into two series,
Classic and Caribbean. The Classic Series features patterns
that have been popular for years while the Caribbean Series
features newer patterns that are proving to be very popular
as well. The Alhambra Series is a newer development and
features patterns with a Mediterranean influence. The Alhambra
tiles are slightly larger than the Talavera tiles and have
rounded corners and a slight cushion edge. The decorative
Alhambra tiles are created using a bisque with the pattern
embossed on the clay. The bisque is then painted with several
layers of colored glazes before firing. The water color
solids shown in the Talavera Caribbean Series are available
either on the Talavera bisque or the Alhambra bisque.
